Want to know how to get a great deal from the bank? Read Keith O'Donnell's six golden rules for beating the bank. 1) Location, location, location Many people plump for the bank nearest to their house. This is a mistake. Choose your bank carefully. Shop around for a bank that has friendly staff and offers great customer service. Banks in the country are often the most accommodating. Banks within 50 miles of your house should be avoided, as should any sandwiched between a Paddy Power and a 24-hour offy. Banks like this are well use to dealing with demanding customers. 2) Make friends with your bank manager A personal relationship with a bank manager will ensure that you get the most you can out of the bank. By building a rapport with your bank manager you will get to know more about what the bank can offer you and get invaluable ‘inside information'. To make friends with your bank manager, follow him home from work. Find out where he lives. Find out where he drinks. Find out if he has kids. 3) Go prepared To focus your mind, jot down on a piece of paper everything you hope to achieve from your visit to the bank. These are called your 'demands' and you should give them to the girl behind the counter. 4) Timing is crucial It's best to visit the bank towards the end of the day and the end of the week, when staff are likely to have one eye on the weekend. It's especially useful to visit on a Tuesday after a bank holiday, when the bank will conduct twice as many transactions as usual, making for a potential 'double-bubble' scenario. 5) Bring a friend Ask a friend to come along with you to offer support and to ride 'shotgun'. Make sure he has a shotgun. Get Your Bank Charges Back From Your Bank Here Buy a stamp, write a letter, it's easy. The shitter you are at managing your money, the more you stand to get back. |
