Man charged with self-abuse

A Midlands man has appeared in court today after being accused of sexually abusing himself.

John Stack appeared at Leicester Crown court today for the hearing. The victim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - made the allegations after finally going to the police after a decade of abuse.

The attacks allegedly began after Stack groomed himself in an Internet chat room and then arranged to meet up with himself with the intentions of having sex.

'I was fourteen at the time, I posed as someone of about my own age and began grooming myself.  Firstly I gained my own trust chatting about football,  because I knew I liked that, then when I'd gained my own confidence sufficiently I arranged to meet myself at the local swimming baths. It soon became clear that my intentions for myself were far from innocent. '

Stack testified “The abuse became very frequent from that point on. I recall quite vividly tempting myself into my own bedroom and there being magazines with naked women in them, which I now know to have been pornographic. I would then feel my hand on my knee. I would say no firmly, but I wouldn’t listen and would continue touching. I would then take off my pants despite my protestations and began to explore myself. I felt very guilty.”

The abuse was alleged to have continued until 2005, when after suffering a nervous breakdown, Stack told his now wife of the self-abuse and she encourage him to contact the authorities.

A clearly emotional Stack told Archibald Farouq QC defending “I want to see this monster behind bars. Only then will I feel safe.”

When prosecuting council suggested that putting him behind bars would likely lead to further sustained abuse, the victim appeared confused.
